Technologies in my university
You can also use technologies to do an education practice more effective. Time ago, you had to teach with chalk and slate, today teachers doesn't use chalk and slate, they use power point presentations, videos, digital animations and many other things that allow a better learning.
Some universities and schools have better technologies than others, because more resources to acquire new things. In my case, I'm studying in the best university of the country, the best in general, but not the one with more resources, so the question is What technological resources I have in my university?
In a career related to health context, you must have some basics things like:
Microscopes: microscopes are very important in biomedicine because allows you to see deficiencies in a molecular level, so you can a better, secure and fast diagnostic. In my university, teachers have very modern microscopes, for investigating. For students are avaible many kinds of microscopes, for example, in a subject called histology I used to use outdated microscopes, but enough for purposes of the class, but in other subject called molecular bases, I used to use modern microscopes because in that subject, we had to see very detailed things.
Manometer and stethoscope: all students of a health career, must have these things, because with them you can patients fast, and give them a fast treatment in case of emergency. And you must learn how to use it. I can say, that we have, medium level manometers and stethoscopes, but that is not bad for us, because if you learn and practice, for example, with a stethoscope that does not listen very well, when you use a better stethoscope will be easier for your listen.
Well, other things that I wont describe here, are system to see radiographs and TCs. Speacially related to physical therapy, machines to evaluate muscle-skeletal system like runners, free weights and electronic goniometers we have here.
Concluding with this, I think is very important for education to have technological resources, but depends of the money that the state give to education in some cases, like mine because I'm student of a state university, despite that, we have all things, to be the best professional in the country, aren't of the best line, but allow us to learn and practice, thinking n the future we must be a professional with enough experience, to healt and educate people.

Challenges for physical therapist!
Well, I will explain the problem, now we only can work with patients reffered from a doctor, because the doctor do the first diagnostic, so if the doctor thinks that a patient need physical therapy, he gives a order to the patient to go to a physical therapist, and then, we can do our work.
Many important physical therapists believes that we have the skills necessaries to be first consultation, I mean that patients can go first to a physical therapist to get a diagnostic and obtain the physical therapy based on these diagnostic.
To reach that objective, be first consultation, we have to demonstrate to people and health authorities that a physical therapist has the skills necessaries to it. How? Well, we can demonstrate it, doing our work efficiently and good and informing people that a physical therapist can treat and diagnose problems related to muscle-skeletal system in a first instance.
In second place, we have to educate people to belive in our treatments
Other challenge that we have as a health professional is improve the public health system. Chilean people know that we don’t have a good public health system, because it doesn’t has good technology, infrastructure, and other material resources as the private health system. We have to fight for more money to public health system, because all people must have the best attention available in the country, independently of the education and socio-economic class of the people.
Well, I think that the challenges that I mention, are the bigger challenges for us, the first for physical therapists only, and the second specially for health professionals but must has an objective for all people that want a better country.
All for today, see you the next week!

My faculty
First an evaluation of the present conditions:
I think that our faculty has very good classrooms all with data show, board, a lot of space and comfortable seats, but there are some exceptions.
We have too, the most modern library in Chile. It has a lot of interesting material for our careers, it has computers, many tables and places to have excellent concentration when you are studying.
The faculty has a lot of toilets which are well distributed, and food machines in good locations to.
We have a lot of green areas too, so we can go to them and relax for a few minutes.
In relation to sports, we have some problems, like the field of the gym is to small, we don’t have a football field made of grass, the gym has few machines to do exercise etc.
Another problem, is that the parking lot for students is too small, so if you don’t arrive to the faculty at 8:00 am. you won`t find a parking space.
So, I think that we need to improve the gym, and the parking.
For the gym you only need money to buy more exercise machines, and if you want a bigger field you must rebuild the gym, that is too expensive.
For the parking we can use some empty areas near to the present parking, that anyone use for other things, you only need to made a road between the present parking and the new one.
I’m very secure that if the faculty does these improvements, all the students will be happier.
See you!

My hobbies!
Hi friends
Today I will talk about my hobbies! First, I have to say that I leave many hobbies during this year, because with the university I don’t have much time to practice all. But I started new hobbies that I like a lot and I think that it will be the hobbies that I want practice all my life, I am talking about: MAGIC.
Like five or six years ago, I was a beginner card magician, I practiced for two or three months and then I left the magic because I couldn’t find ways to learn more about it. But In March of this year, I rediscovered the magic. In summer holydays I saw a very good magician in the casino of Puerto Varas, seeing him I remembered my times as magician and I decided to come back with this art. When I returned to Santiago, I looked for magic books, videos, magazines or any document to learn new techniques and “spells”.
Now I know a many things about magic, I know a lot of card tricks, because card magic is my specialty, but I am learning other kinds of magic like magic for child, or magic with handkerchiefs and other things.
If I have to say why I choose magic as a hobbie? I would say that few things are compared with the face expression that people do when you show them a trick specially the children. Related to that, I am a member of a group called “Magia por una sonrisa” (MXS). MXS is a student group of my faculty that go to hospitals for visit sick children and do magic for them, showing that nothing is imposible with a little of magic.
Well In this moment I think that magic is my favourite hobbie. But I do other things too, like, play guitar and other instruments, play videogames and practice some sports.

My last Holidays and my next holidays
Today we have to talk about holidays... I want to tell you how were my last holidays and a very interesting place that I visited.
Well last summer I did a lot of things, but in this post I’ll only talk about my trip as backpacker.
The idea started with two of my best friends, we decided to do a trip as backpackers, but where? After some days, we decided go to the south of Chile and Argentina. In one week we buy things like backpacks, sleeping bags and all things that we could need in a backpacker trip. Finally we got together in my home with all things less tickets to start the trip! So we decided go to the bus station and buy tickets for the next bus that would go to Villarrica. With a little of luck we bought tickets immediately, in that moment one of the biggest adventures in our lives was beginning.
Well, we arrived to Villarica the next day; we went to a camping and stayed there four days, enjoying the beach and the traditional things of the town. After that we went to Pucon (a city near Villarica), there we stayed in a camping again.
Our next destination was Bariloche in Argentina, in that city we went to a lot of partys and we stayed in a hostel named Backpackers Hostel, a great place to meet other backpackers from any place of the world, we met three Israeli girls and one Canadian man.
After Bariloche we returned to Chile, and we went to a very interesting place: Tantauco Park.
In Tantauco park we lived a great adventure like Indiana Jones! Tantauco park is a national reserve in the south of Chiloe, you can only arrive there by boat or walking.
You have to go through the park following signs in the trees, and walk miles and miles to arrive to a shelter. In each mini travel between shelters we saw amazing things like native animals, virgins rivers and lakes and many other things that I cant explain by words. We had objectives like arrive to some shelters in the park but we couldn’t for time.
Next summer we want to go again to the park and go through all the park! And arrive to the places that we couldn’t the last summer.

The tennis elbow
What treatments work?
Tennis elbow is a common disease in people. The article proposes that the disease get better by itself, but you can do some things to improve the rehabilitation.
Treatments that are likely to work:
NSAID (Non steroidal anti inflammatory) gels and sprays
NSAID are a type of painkiller, they can improve your symptoms if the don’t help, you may tray with a different NSAID or use a higher dose, but always you have to consult with your doctor.
NSAID Tablets:
NSAID tablets works good for pain, but is not known if help at long time.
Consult with your doctor anyway, because you may have other problems taking this method.
Steroid Injections:
An injection reduces your pain quickly, but not helps in a long time and may causes problems with your skin.
Treatments that need further study:
Acupunture:
Acupunture may help or not, you have to try.
Exercise:
Exercise help to improve your strengthen in the articulation and help to pain, but you have to consult with a physical therapist the exercise that is the best and how you have to do it.
Work better in a long term.
Arm Braces:
The tendon rests, but don’t help with the pain.
Surgery:
If the disease is severe you can consult to a doctor for a surgery.
Treatments that are unlikely to work
Shockwave therapy
A lot of studies shows that sound waves don’t help with the pain and the strengthen of the articulation.

Interesting things of Santiago
As you know I’m Chilean, I have always lived in Santiago, for that reason I know a lot of places and activities that you can do here.
First, you must be in a good hotel, is very important be comfortable to have energy, because if you have energy toy can go out to every place that you want.
Well, if you want to know the cultural side of Santiago I think that you should go to “Cerro Santa Lucia” because “Cerro Santa Lucia” was the place where Pedro de Valdivia, many years ago, gave the name to the city. In “Cerro Santa Lucia” are a lot of “mini museums” with things related to the origins of the city like ancient robes that people used to wear, ancient weapons that Spanish used to conquer this place and many other things.
Another interesting place to go is Valparaiso. Valparaiso is a city near Santiago, if you travel in car takes two or one hour and a half to arrive to this wonderful place. Valparaiso is the most important dock of Chile and may be the most important of South America. Valparaiso has a lot of history, many things that you can do there, very good restaurants that can offer to you a delicious dish of seafood.
Finally I think that you must visit the center of the city, there you have the most important buildings of the city like “La moneda” that is the government palace, or the Cathedral of Santiago.
I hope that this ideas help you if you lived in Santiago or if you are thinking to visit Santiago, if you want more information you can visit the Tourist Direction of Santiago that is in Providencia.
See you!
